Does anyone know of a bikeshop in (pref) the South East or even London that sells De Rosas (in particular the idol)?
Theres plenty on the internet but I’d rather give my money to a bricks and mortar store. The de rosa ‘find a retailer’ function on their website is hopelessly incorrect.

They sell the Idol with Dura Ace mechanical for the same price as the UK Di2 Ultegra (including posting) – but I’m waiting to hear about the wheels; I’ll post their reply once I hear back.
A final request – how did you find the geometry etc? I prefer a slightly less racey position – more fast endurance?
Perhaps I’ll see you out & about in the peaks later in spring – I’ll lookout for a slightly scuffed Idol.
Bye for now

I guess something has to give on the spec, the frame and forks on their own come in at £2300. And after a bit of a trawl around it seems there aren’t too many options on light disc specific wheels just yet.
I didn’t haggle on the bike price, not my forte, but i did ask the shop to swap the standard compact chainset for a 52/36, which they did for nowt (and gave me the OEM compact complete chain set as well).
Its only my second road bike, so I’ve not got loads of experience on geometry and all that. But I reckon ‘fast endurance’ probably fits well. Its definitely a lower and more racy than my previous H2 fit Trek, but i didn’t feel forced into a real head down position (and definitely not on the hoods). Doesn’t De Rosa have two or three models above the Idol that are more their pure race orientated machines?
Cant wait to get back out.

I wish I could edit the thread title. I would rename this to ‘The de rosa buyers club’.And get Matthew McConaughey to star in it.

Obviously it#s £450 worth of profit they are losing but they won’t make a penny if they don’t sell it! Remember – if you spend megabucks there then hopefully they’ll look after you in the future with services etc.
Ultimately, if you don’t get a good deal, you know what you’re getting from Wiggle.Yeah, agreed. I don’t begrudge anyone making a profit but if they include a proper bikefit in the sale i’ll be happy. having said that if it really was £450 cheaper online, well that’s a different story.

yep, platinum price at ~£3250. If you ask nicely at your LBS you might get a healthy discount (maybe not 12%) but it’ll be fitted correctly and set up perfectly for yousergius
It may be the platinum
It may be the platinum discount I guess (12%) I just checked again and it’s dropped down to gold (5%) as I didn’t spend enough last year to maintain it. So £3514 now.Kadinkski

Regarding the LBS versus Internet thing – is a local shop likely to match or do something to get closer to the online price in peoples experience? There’s a couple of shops vaguely near me who are De Rosa stockists, but I’m having a hard time seeing past the £450 I’d save by buying one from Wiggle, assuming the shop would charge RRP.
Wiggle just seems to be the same price as everywhere else – £2,999 & £3,699k which is also the RRP, isn’t it….or am I being thick?

pretty sure I have seen De Rosa in Halfords new venture Cycle Republic in London.I went into their Euston Tower store before Christmas to have a nose around, and spotted several if my memory serves me
Not that I am recommending their store, but they have some to “look at”, at least 😉

Sorry to hear about the prang
Sorry to hear about the prang – I hope you make a speedy recovery and are soon back cycling and heading towards Holme Moss. I’ve been over a couple of times during the snow (I live in Hayfield) – once was fine & crisp with dry roads – the other !!!! The winding downhill on either side will certainly be a good test for the Idol’s discs and stability.I’m looking seriously at the Disc-Idol and had written an earlier post asking for advice, so the discussions here are very useful.
I also thought the wheels were a bit under specified for the rest of the bike – and am currently discussing with Cicclimattio as to what wheels they spec. They sell the Idol with Dura Ace mechanical for the same price as the UK Di2 Ultegra (including posting) – but I’m waiting to hear about the wheels; I’ll post their reply once I hear back.
I understand from the UK importers that the Dura Ace specified Idol isn’t available in the UK – and that they can only spec the shimano wheels here. So though I’d much prefer to buy via UK bricks and mortar – it could be, depending on the wheels, a too much better bet to go outside the UK (I’m not actually that bothered about the Dura Ace – though a nice benefit if the wheels make it worthwhile).

Oh shit! That’s terrible mate
Oh shit! That’s terrible mate – genuinely sorry to hear that. I can empathise somewhat as i can’t ride at the moment either (broken hand), no damage to my bike though. Can you get insurance for the incident?
I’m helping my recovery process by researching my new disc brake bike…but i guess you can’t do that as it was a new bike anyway.
