I’ve just been reading about the work World Bicycle Relief do (see http://www.uk.worldbicyclerelief.org) and it made me realise how little carbon frames, 11 speed sprockets and hydraulic discs really mean in the world. In the African heartland where this charity operate, it’s the single speed, steel framed bike that allows a 60 year old farmer to transport 40 litres of milk or the child to travel 5 miles to school.
Have a read of and you’ll appreciate what a fantastic piece of engineering the bicycle really is. IMHO, this is a cause every cycling enthusiast should consider supporting…
