Tried zipp 303 tubs not impressed for the money, lots of side to side flex in my frame, (c60) horrible rotational ticking noise couldn’t pinpoint the cause, good braking and very stable in crosswinds, was tempted to give the clinchers a try maybe?

Dura ace c50 clinchers, heavy, excellent braking until i noticed some badly machined joins in the seams on both sides of the front wheel, not as stable in crosswinds.

Got some dura ace c24’s but the free hub has gone 🙁

Note sure what wheels to try next???

Sent you a message ref very, very good mechanics who know their way around premium stuff. If you want to go out for a ride let me know, would be intrigued as to how bad the problems are you’re talking about. I would have thought anyone with a basic knowledge of the workings of a bike would be able to have at least one of their bikes running well. Especially with top end kit.

Well I like my Enve 3.4s and
Well I like my Enve 3.4s and a friend with the 6.7s also rates them highly.

Certainly with the 3.4s I have never noticed any issues with crosswinds, and the braking is excellent.

Until recently I’ve been using them for both training and racing, as I got it with a powertap hub built in. They’ve held up well but a tyre blowout (clinchers) on a descent completely ruined the rim so it has been replaced. Enve have a good crash replacement policy too.

About to get a set of Mavic CRX80s (tubs) for my TT bike so will see how they compare.

Ok who’s the superstar mechanics you speak of??? Just tell me the initial of the bike shop if you like, very curious to hear… You wouldn’t believe how badly my bikes are running its a crime!

I think its the “tried Zipp tubs, they’re making a strange noise, so I thought I’d try the clinchers”…..how would that get rid of the problem, other than being wheels from the same manufacturer and the same sort of potential for strange noises?

Seems a mish mash of random thoughts when really the OP just wants an excuse to buy some expensive wheels.

To be fair I’ve tried in the past, but this is the latest in a line of Dazzle’s posts about something very expensive not working the way he wants it or asking what to put on his new £3500 frame. I have on other threads, being in the same town as him offered to introduce him to one of the three very, very good mechanics located within just 5 miles to help him sort his woes.

Ticking 303s and you don’t know what it is? take it to one of said mechanics. Knackered free hub on the C24s? Get it replaced by one of said mechanics. Brand new Colnago not set up right? Take it to one of said mechanics. I’ll even ride with Dazzle to the shop and back and we can compare expensive Italian frames! (Mine works fine by the way)

I can just imagine a man sat surrounded by £40,000 worth of bike kit but not riding any of it.

Are you in a club? Try asking for advice from people who can see and ride the bike with you. Or if you got from a shop, I’m saure they would be happy to help with set up etc…
