same dilemma not so long ago
same dilemma not so long ago and i had it down to Trek Madone / Cube Peleton or Merida Scultura 904 – i had my heart set on the Peleton but there was no budging on price in my local stockist and as it was my first road bike i needed shoes, pedals, cleets etc

so i managed to get everything i needed and wanted from the Merida Scultura stockist and went with that – i’ve not been disappointed – its everything i wanted for long runs and initially my daily commute – but i now use an old fixie for the commute as the roads and weather in Glasgow are so bad that i just don’t want to damage the components on the Merida by using it daily.

Had much the same dilemma, ended up with a Pinnacle Dolomite Five from Evans. Granted this was before the Hoy range was out, but both are in the same shop.

The forks on the Pro Carbon
The forks on the Pro Carbon are a little flexy, but the frame is ok for the price.

Nothing wrong with aluminium at that price. The Hoy bike is probably pretty solid.

Might be better to get something for half that off eBay, ride the knackers off for a year or so while you suss out what really floats your boat.

No I’m in London so no showroom nearby, so can’t see or try before buying 🙁

I saw and really liked Ribble but being first time road biker buyer bit hesitant in choosing and building bike myself, do you think i won’t wrong in building ribble?
