My bike has a deda superleggero stem which has an unusually short stack height of 36mm http://www.wiggle.co.uk/deda-superleggero-stem/

I’m not keen on the deda bars to suit this stem and wanted to change to another brand but the short stack height is causing me some concern as it appears my steerer tube has been cut to accommodate the deda stem 🙁

any suggestions or is a new fork purchase on the cards? the new updated 2015 deda bars look a slight improvement, may wait on those.

Hmm thanks, interesting, I hope more manufacturers are making this low clamp stack height soon, I’m very doubtful this deda stem design will be reliable long term and really don’t like the matching bars I’m stuck with either, the width of the bars are a so narrow compared to regular 42cm bars and my shoulders are only 38cm just doesn’t feel right?

Think the planet-x version is the same 35mm stack height (i’d check with them!) but longer lengths.

    Of course Deda would say
Of course Deda would say that… it’ll be fine, just change the bars.

If it was the other way around, I might advise differently.. i.e. the bars were recommending a certain stem, but any alloy bars will be fine with that stem.

I thought of that but deda
I thought of that but deda recommend you use the same bars, its an unusual weight saving design stem.

Why not just change the bars
Why not just change the bars and leave the stem in place ??
