2015 Trek 7.7 FX Upgrade

Hi. I recently purchased the new Hybrid Trek 7.7 FX 2015 model and overall am quite pleased with it. The only problem is the gear set which is the Shimano Tiagra, 10 speed. Its quite clunky in operation and has some issues with certain selections mid range on the rear cassette. I have done a full setup of the front and rear derailleur but there is still some issues mid range (slight delay in changing on selection). I was wondering if it would be a worthwhile upgrade to the 105 setup?.....if yes would the original gear shifters work ok? :/
