Anyone good at identifying frames from serial numbers?

I’ve recently bought a ‘De Rosa’ steel single speed but am fairly convinced it’s a re-spray. I have the serial numbers but can’t find the builder anywhere. Is there a guide anyone knows of?

One number starts with CB (could it be a Claude Bulter??)

    The other starts with HBMS.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

    Hi,

I have an old cromo frame that I picked up recently second hand but I have no idea who the manufacturer is.

The underside of the crank on the frame has a serial number Y4F4132.

I’m guessing its Japanese or something? It’s quite a light frame though. Probably just over a kilo.

Anyone have any ideas? No other markings are available.

    Cheers

    Glenn

I believe it’s new-ish. Have spoken to friends in ‘the business’ and it’s been sand-blasted and re-sprayed.

Not that I can see. It’s Columbus, though. Really appreciate this – thanks!

    Thanks, Keith.

    CB06-M
    HBMS 01517

    Both under bottom bracket.

Frame is very similar to a Charge Plug, if it helps.

    Stick up the full number
Stick up the full number codes and where they are on the bike, there should be a couple of identifying marks.

OR, take pictures and stick them up.
