    Before picking stages 2 and 3, have a look at the forecast. Rain and wind in the Dales, heavy rain in London. Stage 1 is sunny intervals and a moderate crosswind, so not massively influential on the stage 1 cavalry charge, but 2 and 3 look like the weather may play a part, especially 2, since a lot of riders don’t like cold wet climbs and descents.

    One person always springs to mind on tricky descents over a classics type course(stage 2) in bad weather…..everyone’s favourite Ginger Italian…..he’s worn pink before and may well want to wear yellow too before it gets too late?
