Just returned from a great run through some of the Chilterns this morning – the sun was shinning, fellow cyclists waving, not much traffic, the miles were clicking up and the bike was singing. With all the downsides of cycling, such as poor roads, some very dubious driver behaviour, accidents and fatalities, it is perhaps easy to forget the whole reason why we get out there. Yes, I was getting a training run in before an event at the weekend, but actually it was fantastic just being on the bike. Sometimes I think we need to just take stock of what a great time can be had on 2 wheels. Not suggesting that this should be a debate, merely highlighting that I had a great ride today and the post-run coffee is going down well!
