Racing on the continent/UCI 1.2/2.2 & Belgium

Does anyone know what the score is with getting into races in Belgium? I know you're supposed to get some sort of letter from British Cycling but wondering if anyone's come across any restrictions? Any advice/tips/or general info on Belge & being a Brit & racing would be ace :)
