My bike came with the following set-up:
10 speed Campag. Veloce group set with compact triple ring 52/42/30 and a 12/26 cassette. I feel I’m lacking on the speed front, so what would be a suitable replacement – or do I just need to practice more!
Currently shod with Khamsins, but I have bought a pair of Zondas which need a cassette. Thought I might do everything in one go.
    Thanks for your time.
p.s. I don’t see many steep hills in Essex, although there are a few long ones!

Just spin up some more! A lot
Just spin up some more! A lot of people ride on just compacts and a 12t on the back.
If you wanted a ‘cheaper option’ could just buy a cassette with an 11t on instead.

Even with a cadence of 80 rpm
Even with a cadence of 80 rpm you should be doing over 27mph. I’d go with the suggestion of increasing your cadence, you knees will thank you đŸ™‚

    Sheldon (RIP) would have me
Sheldon (RIP) would have me believe that a 52/12 and 100RPM puts you at over 34 miles per hour.

How much faster are you looking to go?
