Hi folks,

Does anyone have experience taking gels on foreign cycle trips?? I’m taking some for one in Majorca, and was planning on putting them in the bike box, until it occurred the pressure difference might make them explode, so wanted a little advice

Yes, done it many times.
Yes, done it many times. Always in the bike box and never had any explode…

I have, also, decanted a huge tub of High 5 extreme into a bidon, which I carried in my hand luggage, rather than carry the 2kg container.

*that* caused some interesting times at security. Thankfully it’s not a commonly-done thing to cut coke with orange flavoured powder. The man with the rubber gloves was not called for.

I’ve not had a problem the 2 times I’ve done it. If you’re worried, I put mine inside my empty water bottles so if they do burst it contains the mess. (Also uses up space that would otherwise be useless).
