Peter Kennaugh has been forced to withdraw. Sky will replace with Chris Sutton.

Well, since this doesn't really seem to be about the Giro, I'll just mention that a special prize for wheelsucking this season has to go to Stybar. I know, one could mostly (but not entirely) put it down to team tactics. But that doesn't change much, it only means that Stybar plays the wheelsucking role in Omega's tactics...
And the special prize for suicidal tendencies has got to go to Viviani, for being at the start of the Giro del Trentino... I know, I know, he's probably looking for some climbing legs for the Giro, but still...
Well it was , as Iwas defending and stating my ipions on Cadel for the GIRO. Ibeen saying since early january he is gunna go close, BUT then somebody decided to personally attack me calling me names and having ago at my experince...It was an all nighter , I should have went to bed earlier... WELL DONE CADEL,,, CYA in the ROSA in a cpl weeks .
To detract from casting aspersions over Cuddles for a minute. I've promised the good lady to take a day off so she can go to a Spa and I'll be a parent for a day. I'd hope for this to be the best weekday stage going during the Giro. Has to be before 24/5. What weekday would you recommend? Looking at the parcours I think 14/5 Stage 5 at Viggiano looks tasty. Any other ideas?
I'm thinking stages 15&16 personally
Beyond whether Cadel has the gas in the tank to win over three weeks (as my prediction before implies, he might run short toward the end), there's also the team issue. BMC actually have quite a star-free line-up (for them), with Señor Zapatos de Oro in the super-dom role. So they're taking GC very seriously. Gilbert won AGL, but they'll have been frustrated at their performance on the cobbles; after LBL, where Gilbert has a reasonable chance, I imagine the Giro will be the last major prize of the season they can realistically win.
As to the man himself, I don't have any problems myself with his style or personality. I wouldn't mind if he won (but still don't think he will!). I doubt anyone associated with Ferrari in the 2000's wasn't involved in dubious preparation, but that in itself is not proof. I'm inclined to believe that he isn't using now, anyway.
Agreed Valverde has been one of the standout riders this year, as has Contador. I wouldn't say there's been much to choose between them, although I really enjoyed Contador's attack from so far out at Tirreno, which I thought was indeed sensational. These days the big guns tend to wait until the final climb, but he wanted to make a statement that he was feeling good - quite possibly responding to Valverde's excellent early season form.
Just realised this is the thread for the Giro! So back on topic - my tip for an outside chance of top 6 is Wilco Kelderman, looking forward to seeing how much his climbing has improved...
Noughties, not nineties. 2000s
He won races when everyone was doped up to the gills. And he was linked to Michele.
Anyway, aside from that I'm still pretty sure that there is plenty of stuff still going on in the peloton, just to a lesser degree. The passport and today's testing procedures still allow much room for abuse.
Evans won't last 3 weeks.
Unless he imports more energy from the devil.
And I'm not sure that he is a clean rider either, I'm pretty sure he wasn't in the noughties.
DUDE, Cadel wasn't even a tour rider in 90.s he was a mtn rider, he transferred across to Seaco in 2001 with a 5 year plan to win TDF and worked, I always thought cadel was clean cause he has those odd VERY BAD days, never see Lance etc have those real bad days....
Uran is in Colombia too and will ride Romandie.
Concerning the Giro, Evans seems to be in great shape...
Purito crashed in both Ardennes races and Quintana is training at home.
Contador crushed Valverde at País Vasco...
Ok lets compare all of years race results....See who raced the most and best I don't even Like either of them personally, I just think Valverde has been the stand out, and Gilbert and Cancelarra(knew fab would bounce back this year better then ever.. NEW DAD)
BTW have a look at the support teams for that tour....best valve had was 35yo Gadret..lol
Conta had Romain Kreuziger, AND was only 12 secs between then till Last stage ITT...
I certainly wouldn't say he crushed him, considering valve beat conta home on Stage 5, stage 4, conta beat valve by one spot stage 3, Valve again beats him home stage 2...... ALL TIME TRIAL mate!
that means Cadel must have CRUSHED the schlecks in TDF that year lol
On paper Movistar was the best team in the race, but sure they disappointed. Kreuziger wasn't at his best either though.
And did you see the first stage? Contador clearly showed who's stronger there on the steep gradients. Valverde never managed to drop Contador. Contador won a stage and the overall, Valverde didn't win anything and finished 5th.
Also of the World Tour races, Valverde won Flèche while Contador won Tirreno and País Vasco.
Ok Valverde won a lot of races and is having an outstanding spring campaign, but Contador was clearly the best stage racer this spring and he beat Valverde.
All I will say is Valve does both, he wins classics, and is mega competitve in stage races..I havent seen conta face much in classics, oh he is saving himself so he crush valve later in grand tours when valve he is working for quintana... While Conta will have Romain, Majka, Roche , 2 soronsen brothers working ...No rogers this year, BUTi just heard rogers got suspension lifted
Anyway good banter, I dont like either rider that much, Ijust think valverde is flying this year and I havent seen that same electricty in conta's pedals since he came back from suspension. My current day fav rider is SPARTACUS by far my fav rider, tho I support Orica Greenedge and Aussies Porte, sutherland etc....Pantani is my all time favorite rider, I also enjoyed watching Jan Ulich ride the big ring in mtns...Indurain was prob first champion I seen win TDF as a kid on tele..I am also currently reading Phil THE ANIMAL Anderson's Biography:)
Honestly Ihope the Colombians and Young Pols Smash the spainish in GT this year.
Actually one rider I really don't like Rui Costa...bad tempered Portaguese...lol
"Conta hasn't done shit since he come back from doping ban" - maybe he hasn't looked quite the same but really? Sensational in Tirreno this year, and I think that 2012 Vuelta win was very underrated - he went head-to-head (to head) with Valverde and Rodriguez and came out on top. I know he'd had all year to train for it, but I still thought it was a great ride.
Crap last year, mind...
Sensational ????? I will leave you with one word for this year.. VALVERDE.
I'm still wondering, is the last race that will be used to generate the values for the riders in the Giro the Tour de Romandie? I'm itching to see the values for the Giro, of course! Thanks!
I don't blame him or anyone for doing it, i guess they are just riding how they want too, he won the tdf so who am I to knock him.
He brings a lot of personality to the pro riding world.
Watching contador / schleck / quintana is far more "entertaining" however.
LMFAO the schlecks are only entertaining for FALLING OFF. Quintana only been around 24 months max lol.....Conta hasn't done shit since he comeback from doping ban...funny that, no more dancing on the pedals!
Evans has had a personality bypass.
LOL. I never said he wasn't a intravert or a weirdo...just was a great rider. And Ireckon maybe the first clean winner in a long time.. Anyway my all time fav rider is IL PIRATA
New to pro riding are you? run along now ; )
You seem to have some issues with anyone disagreeing with you ; ) *waits for the you and my fan club to start over again*
The morons are so predictable here, hanging onto coat tails... ; )
No need to be a condescending $@&$# mate....
Actually I watched nearly every stage of every tour last year that was broadcast, even been a member of this site for 15months....
I been watching cycling since Indurian, Le Mond , Anderson, Neil stephens...And You seem to think you are king shit and can just tell people to run along... Bet you would reconsidered that comment face to face!
Prefer to have healthy ADULT banter, then go calling people morons etc... Class act mate....What coat tails am I hanging on too ? whatever
By that standard that makes Tommy Voecklar the most exciting rider on the planet, even if those results that year of his seem very suss!
He's a WHEELSUCKER.
My dad said exactly the same thing. I for one hope he fails miserably, but thats just my view and he may go on and win aka Horner.
