I would suggest Kodi with Phoenix...there is Eurosport there, pretty good stream.
I tried the Eurosport Player for one month and I hated it. The quality of recorded races was unacceptable! It's a shame I couldn't find some review before, that would have stopped me from trying.
Luckily, I've made some screenshots of a recorded/non-live race at 2016-03-16.

I think the Eurosport Player is great. I prefer to use the built in app on my LG TV to the iPad version. Once you start up the app on the TV it's just like watching Eurosport on Sky or Virgin Media, but much cheaper.
I love it - no Sky in our house, and a crappy rural broadband (<1MBS) but watching Paris-Roubaix last night it was fine. The scheduling is a bit annoying - I thought I had missed it, but they were just covering the last of some sport with a ball.
after some previous mixed experience with the IOS version I stumped up for a month's subs on Android to watch Flanders and P-R & so far it's been really good, video quality, sound and streaming is excellent in HD. My phone outputs to HDMI via an adapter so I just plug it into the telly and watch it that way.
You're lucky to be able to do that. Apple have stopped you outputting via a cable; I have to use an Apple TV box to watch via a TV. I don't know if there are similar devices to Apple TV available.
I did panic a bit yesterday as Euro Player seemed to be offline for the start of the race, fortunately it came back in time for the actual coverage.
really? I thought you could get an apple adapter but maybe they've disabled it in software. Most unlike Apple to do something like that so that you have to buy another device...
I did try eurosport on the ipad but the quality wasn't great so will probably stick with the 'droid version. If they made the app compatible with Chromecast then I'd be tempted to get one.
I used it last year on holiday in Italy to watch the last two weeks of le Tour as the place we were staying had wifi, but no tv.
It was great. The only negative was that because I was in Italy when I downloaded the app, it was the Italian version of Eurosport that I got... And this didn't change when I came back to the UK (including all the menus and scheduling info in the app itself).
SO... If you are going to be using it abroad, make sure you get the app in advance unless you don't mind listening to commentary in the local language.
Just signed up. £4 a month seems worth it for a smooth-playing legal outlet to see all of the big races. Tired of those ad-packed ("1 weird old tip!!! Dermatologists HATE her!!!!1!!1"), virus-ridden hooky feeds.
Bring on the cobbles...
That's a good point. Liggett and Sherwen definitely should get Voigt.
Definitely Ligget and Sherwen are certainly an abomination. During the TDU they kept banging on about what huge fans they are of some bloke called "Jens Voyt." If they're such big fans then why don't they say his name right?
But I started watching Eurosport player yesterday and the picture was crap. I have a 15Mb connection, PC wired to the router, and I could hardly identify any of the riders. I hope it improves but it is better than not having anything, or paying for Sky Sports.
As for Harmon - good riddance. His repetitive fawning over Sean Kelly was making my skin crawl by the time he vanished. Kelly seems to have cheered up and become more talkative since he left too. Brian Smith would make a good main commentator in his own right - he keeps yanking Carlton Kirby back on topic. I think Smith plus rotating Kelly/Backstedt would be an ideal line-up.
Agreed!
Also ES are using Rochelle Gilmore for women's racing a bit now which is brilliant, she makes a fantastic commentator. Velocast featured a bit of Sarah Connolly when they were doing the pods for ES too which was ace. A big +1 from me on that front.
A little off topic, but I do love how Jens's surname, properly pronounced, is essentially the same as a northern English person saying "f***ed".
Which is why I could never be a cycling commentator. I'd end up with a mouth full of asterisks.
I subscribed last year and it was great.
You need a strong broadband connection obviously.
Wish they would get their commentary team sorted out though,Still good but after Harmon disappeared it was musical chairs with different commentators all the time and none as good as the Harmon/Kelly combination in my opinion.
I personally am happy to pay for and watch Eurosport if it means I dont have to listen to Ligget and Sherwen for the whole year.
Thanks for that. I actually sprang for it last night so I can watch the VAA today. I went for the 12 months @ £3.99 package. I watched a video of the last MotoGP race of last season and it was so jerky it gave me a headache after five minutes so I hope the live coverage is better. But I'm in now.
good for me, had it a couple of years, great when live cycling is on, and sitting on turbo trainer, use it nearly every day
I use it on my iPad. Scheduling still needs sorting out (still a lot of "oh hey the cycling is on.." "oh wait...it's darts though" going on)
BUT aside from that I couldn't personally live without it, that and ITV4. Well worth the teeny weeny sub fee imho.
They're (apparently) doing a bit more to support women's cycling this year too so I'll be keeping my account open for now.
