    Hi all,

I’ve recently obtained a Dolan alley frame, its got an inch carbon steerer. I`ve tried 2 different carbon bungs, but the adjusting bolt that pre loads the bearing keeps coming loose after 10 miles, the bung part stays tight inside the steerer though!! ~X(

I emailed Dolan 5 days ago, but as yet no replies. I`ve got an 1-1/8 carbon steerer on my other bike, and have done thousands of miles without any problem’s!

The bungs are as rare as rocking horse poo, so to try and get hold of a 3rd will be difficult.

Any ideas will be gratefully appreciated.

    Blue loctite should be fine,
Blue loctite should be fine, you can get plenty purchase in the fixing, I use it in friction adjusters and chain ring bolts, neither of which you can grab easily with solid tools.

Tried carbon paste, have thought about roughing up the carbon cap area where the bolt enters through to give it something to grip too.

As for locktight, am afraid it might completely lock the whole thing up and I`ll be shagged!! 🙁

Or maybe a star washer under the bolt!
