I tell you day after day, multiple times a day, that I don’t want this.
Stop showing me the popup in the middle of a good read. If I have to click a button that says I accept functional cookies, at least make good use of them please!

It trapped me the other day.
It trapped me the other day. I was on a public Wi-Fi hotspot, which was slow. The video wasn’t loading, so no “X” to close the video pop up, but that was obscuring the “X” on the email pop up. I laughed and took a screenshot, reminded myself never to try again on my mobile! (Which I admit is old and small, but still, many other websites work ok on it). It’s better when logged in and would be better still if I subscribed I’m sure, but if this is the experience for those who are new to the site, they’re going to quickly give up.
