Hanging a bike on the wall?

I have hooks that loop through the wheel to allow me to hang my bike on the wall. Normally I put the hook through the front wheel , but a new bike purchase means i need to use the rear wheel on one of the bikes.  Anyone know if it makes any difference which way up the bike is?

Someone, who is generally considered to be knowledgeable , once warned me never to upend a bike with hydraulic brakes as it offends St Cecilia, the patron saint of mineral oil, or something.

I hang mine by the rear wheel

I hang mine by the rear wheel now.

I noted one day that once I looped the 8kg gold-standard chain and padlock combo through the frame, it bore the weight and the bike noticably dropped. This was flex in the front fork and the steerer. That spooked me, despite understanding that the dynamic loads that the same components see whilst riding will be far higher.

That rear triangle section is way stronger.
