Hello all, been considering buying a new road bike for a while. Have at the moment a genesis datum 20 which I bought coming back to cycling after a long lay off. Bought it as a bit of a do it all bike but have now been well and truly bitten by the “roadie” bug. My question is will I notice a great deal in performance by buying a new proper “road” bike or save my cash and upgrade the wheels. The Datum is very comfy for all day long rides but a bit weighty at 10kg. Keep looking at the Orro gold gtc and the btwin cf940? Getting in to my late forties now and have a progressive lung disease so won’t be racing just going as quick as I can trying to keep my fitness levels for as long as possible. This will probably be the last bike I buy although you might see me on an electric one, one day! Thanks for your views/help.
