I’m buying a bike from Specialized, a Crux with carbon frame, which has in its specs, from Specialized official site description of the bike, a BB “SRAM BB30, 83mm”.

    Which actually does not exist.

BB30 [42mmID (41.995mm) with bearings pressed directly into the frame bb shell]

can be 68mm or 73mm wide.

it can be 84.5mm wide on Specialized MTB Alloy OSBB (Over Sized BB by Specialized)

I Hope is not my case, I hate BB30 direct bearing mounting.

So, what bb do we have with 83mm wide shell?

BSA threaded (1.37inch ID on standard, 33.6mm – 33.9mm English threaded)

can be 68mm, 79mm, 83mm, 100mm wide. Not my case. bearing are external, common on metal frames (from smart builders).

PF30 (46mm ID shell with inserted removable plastic or metal cups hosting bearings)

    can be 61mm 68mm 73mm 83mm 100mm. Probably my case.

Google, gives 2 type of result asking for ‘Sram BB30 83mm’

The BSA GXP threaded movement (external bearings)

      The PressFit 30 79/83mm

is it a PressFit (46mm bb shell ID)? why Sram and Specialized call it BB30?

is it a BB30 (42mm shell ID)? How can it be 83mm wide?

monday I will check the frame for an answer.
