    For those that dont obsessively check what’s coming to the centre aisles of Lidl

    There are some nice looking (to my eyes) tops for £6.99

    Good for daily commutes or on the turbo.

     

    Cheap shorts, tights, gloves and glasses too

     

    Also a rucksack with a pull out mesh pocket for holding your helmet

    Aldi seem to have slipped

    Aldi seem to have slipped back down to the casual level again after a brief attempt at more technical clothing. The actual quality was alright but the sizings were all wrong. One item I’d be a small, a base layer would be a large, the full length bibs were actually half mast etc. Now they’ve just gone back to basic shorts, jerseys, jackets and LED lights for the last few rounds of deals.

    On a different note, I can’t fault the power tools from both Lidl and Aldi. If I was a pro I’d obviously go with reliability as you can’t be having motors burn out on a job but for the casual they’re great. The dremel clone I got recently is very useful.

    The shades were good value.

    The shades were good value. There are three types, but don’t expect them to all fit the same. I guess the biggest thing I can say in their favour is after 5 minutes I forgot I was wearing them. Can’t go wrong for £6.99

    Both my local Lidl were sold out of shoes by early afternoon, men’s jerseys also all gone. They had their bike repair stand for £25, looked pretty good, and rated for heavy e-bikes.

    I have a long sleeve top from LIDL that is my favourite for late evening/night time summer rides and as a base layer in the cooler months, it’s a perfect fit ofr those of a bigger chest/shoulder size without adding too much material elsewhere which is where the well known brands seem to go wrong too often.

    I had a pair of the shoes from way back that replaced some Shimano jobs, really comfortable and a nice colour too but the newer ones are a different design altogether. After the LIDL shoes I went to a pair of Northwave Mission that has a Vibram sole, they are the absolute nutz for walking in, mine have just about had it as the sole is coming away at the front on the left and tempted as I am with trying a LIDL pair I’m on the lookout for a pair of older style Specialized Tahoe which I beleive the older LIDL shoe was based around as they are very similar.
