Turbo Trainer setup

    Hi all, I’m looking to try to simplify my trainer setup in a bid to appease my wife, and to also make my setup and go a little quicker.  I’m looking to use my iPad with a wahoo ant+ adapter to connect to my kickr, and I’m about to purchase the ant+ adapter, but need the Apple 30pin to lightning adapter.  Do I need to have an official apple adapter, or will the eBay ones work ok?  If so, does anyone have any links to the cheaper version of the adapters?

    I’ve tried searching and could not find any answers.

    Can confirm it’ll definitely work on your macbook, that’s what I use.  I’ve tested both ANT+ dongles and Bluetooth, the latter seems to be more reliable with none of the occasional connection issues with the former

    As previously mentioned the iPad Air 2 is supported, and will control the Kickr via BTLE.

    I think you might be proved wrong I’m afraid 😉

    If the app works on your iPad then it’ll connect to the Kickr via Bluetooth. I regularly use the Kickr on my Macbook via Bluetooth, and I’ve experimented with it on my iPad as well, which was just fine.

    I run Zwift on an iPad Air

    I run Zwift on an iPad Air purely using Bluetooth – Tacx Flow plus Wahoo cadence and HR sensors.

    It’s an IPad Air2, just downloaded the App, and it works nicely from a rendering perspective. But I’ll give the Bluetooth piece a go, but I don’t believe that it will link to the Kickr via BT. But I may be wrong, and happy to be proved wrong.

    apologies, I should have stated Zwift. 

    Doesn’t look like Zwift (app) will run on the iPad2, Zwift support has iPad Air or higher, iPad Pro, iPad Mini 2 or higher, or iPod 6 as compatible – full details are on the App Store page here

    What platform as you planning

    What platform as you planning on using? If it’s Zwift I’d look at whether the iPad you have is compatible.
