Hello,
We are a group of students based out of Nova Scotia (Canada) who are attempting to develop an air horn which is more aesthetically pleasing than those currently on the market.
Our current prototype replaces a user’s existing seatpost with a metal seatpost which acts as a pressure vessel — that is, the compressed air container (used to power the air horn) is the seat post. Based on our estimates, the user would get 10-15 blasts out of one refill (where the post may be refilled by the user with a bike pump).
We have not yet settled on a design for the air horn, although we are aiming to produce a pitch similar to that of a car horn.
Theoretically it all seems sound, but we would also like feedback from actual users to ensure we create something that cyclists would find useful and also like to have on their bikes. If you have any comments or criticisms about our concept, we would very much like to hear them. We would also be very interested in hearing the why behind your opinion — why do you feel that way?
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Team Awareness
