I may be inheriting a Shih Tzu. I work from home, have a garden, and quite like the idea of having company.

However, due to disability, I can’t drive, so would need a way to take him to the vet, maybe to the park, and to the pub when meeting friends. Even for a ride, if he likes it.

I’ve been searching for dog carriers, but nothing suitable has popped up yet. It would probably have to be a rear carrier as I have narrow bars. I haven’t ruled out a trailer, but he’s only small and should fit in something that can go on the bike.

Anyone have any ideas please? Thanks.

I was once eating lunch on

I was once eating lunch on top of the Cioch, a pinnacle in Skye, when a bloke arrived and took his Jack Russell out of his rucksack. “Its OK up to about easy diff. (a low grade of rock climb) but then it has to go in the sack.” he told me. “Also the gabbro (the rock of which the Cuilin is made) is wearing its pads thin.

I’ve seen someone who put a terrier in an open pannier – looked insane but the dog seemed to love it.

    I’ve seen a Buddyrider on

I’ve seen a Buddyrider on eBay – this would be ideal IF it worked on my road bike. However, the TT probably doesn’t have enough clearance – it needs 48cm+ and I’m around a cm short. Plus, I have short arms. 🙁

Glad to help 🙂 although I’m afraid I can’t help on the dog carrier question 🙁

My post doesn’t seem to be showing, but in summary, I may be inheriting a Shih Tzu and am looking at carriers to get him to the vet and short rides. Rear preferred.
