Frameset expectations.

When buying a frameset would it be too much to expect the (Included.) headset to be installed?

Just picked one up (Genesis Equilibrium.) and while the headset cups arn’t too big an issue as I have a press, seating the crown race is going to be a bit of a drag.  Would it be too cheeky to expect the shop to do this for me FOC? (Or at least lend me the tool.)

Agree with all of the above, I don’t use an oven, just a cup of boiling water will do.

PVC pipe? So obvious I missed

PVC pipe? So obvious I missed it. Have some lying around as well, certainly cheaper than the Park equivalent.

    Thanks for the replies.

I used pvc waste pipe (£3 for 3 metres at screwfix) with 4 dremel/hacksaw indents (in a cross shape) so that the top of the pipe deformed along the race to ensure it pushed it over the ridge.

Utterly perfect and the other 2 m are now light sabers. neeeeoowwwhum.

Cut a slot in the crown race

Cut a slot in the crown race and it will slide straight on.

or alternatively go into a hardware shop and ask for a section of pvc pipe.   Figure out what measurement of length and width you will need.  Then you will have the tool for life.
