    Nice article by Helen Pidd in the Grauniad that puts some perspective into the risk of being killed while out on your bike:

    90 cyclists were killed last year, mostly men (because men ride more).  70 people died falling off ladders.  4 pedestrians were killed by cyclists, and all 4 were over 70 years old.  And although tipper trucks are clearly dangerous, an average cyclist is more likely to fall off and die of his own accord (20 men, 2 women) than being helped on his/her way by a lorry (9 men, 6 women).
