BMC Granfondo chain catcher

Granfondo owners will know what I mean. Recently bought one of these and swapped the compact chainset for a standard. Once the inner became a 39t the integrated chain catcher sits too low. I presumed the bike would come with a longer piece of tubing to raise the catcher but the dealer said not and BMC have not replied to my email. I found some reinforced tubing the same diameter and bore but it still compresses when I screw in the catcher. Have any Granfondo owners bought a bike with a longer catcher or found a cheap alternative elsewhere?
