I enjoyed reading these, especially the second one. I’m doing the same thing but I’m going to try and establish a narrative based around diet, health and cycling and try and chronicle improvements in mood, energy etc.

Well, I enjoyed reading them. It’s refreshing to read something original and creative on a link from an internet message board. It’s a very exposing feeling, presenting your work to the world! (I know, I’m a mediocre song-writer) so thank you for posting the link.

I thought the story about the cellar find in France was the better story, although the photography in the Wales story was stunning. That’s because of the element of surprise, the emotional turn of the story from disappointment to something unusual and surprising.

It’s much harder to turn “I went cycling for two days with my mates” into something that has a spark, something that, to be blunt, other people will want to read. Of course, people like me will always want to read about other people on bikes. But if you’re looking to write for a wider audience, you need to have another angle aside from “we had a great time on our bikes”.

Otherwise, I would try to avoid cliche, colloquialism (out of nowhere, as you do), and in jokes between your friends. I hope this doesn’t sound harsh, it isn’t supposed to. I’m saying it again, I enjoyed reading them and even if they’d been awful, which they’re not, they’d hold more value than most commentary below the line here, mine included. Keep doing it, i’ll check for the next one.
