Hi Guys, :H
I’m new to this forum!
Heres the deal. Im 15 years old, and doing a 400 mile charity bike ride over 6 days for charity in the summer. I have a specialised allez sport 2014, bont riot cycling shoes, a garmin edge 200, and a wahoo tickr. Have you done a long distance ride like this? Is this the sort of kit i need? I am doing this ride for another club, and go to boarding school, so training is very limited compared to the club i am doing it for. What is a good training plan for this sort of ride? What kit will I need? Energy gels? Hydration pack? I love using my wahoo tickr HRM, but am a bit clueless of what HR to ride at. Is the a optimum HR? I also do rowing intensively, and know that there are specific HR bands, each for different differences, is there a similar sort of thing for cycling? i will be riding roughly 68 miles a day, and do not want to tire out. The coach, suggests riding at a cadence of 80, is this right? I am very reliant on my tech when rowing, keeping as close as i can to the stats on the monitor. I am thinking about getting the wahoo rpm cadence monitor? Does anyone have/recommend this? I would feel a lot more confident riding at a specific cadence and HR.If anyone is interested or would do me a HUGE favour and help out by donating ANY sum of money to our just giving page, i would be incredibly grateful. Our charity is CRY, cardiac risk in the young, and is a very meaningful course. If you do, please could you mention my name Charlie Rockingham, and the road.cc forum, and i will be more than happy to give you a vote or reputation points (or whatever there is on this site!) Thanks a lot guys, (and girls) keep on cycling!!!
