6870 Rear Derailleur micro adjustment

Hello all I’ve just picked up my bike from LBS having had the rear derailleur tweaked (I’d messed about with it because it wasn’t changing too well and shouldn’t have). One of the things that didn’t seem right to me was that, in order to index cleanly the micro adjustment needed to be set fully outboard. I would have thought that it should be centred, with equal “clicks” available in each direction. The mechanic at the LBS was also puzzled by this and spoke to Shimano who weren’t sure, but thought it might be software based. I’ll try updating but wondered if anyone else can shed any light on this? Thanks Mark
