What would happen if a bike shop got robbed

I've just put my bike in for service at my local bike shop and suddenly had the thought what would happen if over night they got broken into and my bike was taken. I know its a small possibility but does anyone know what happens if that occurs do they owe me a new bike?

….hoping that they still have insurance and are not in financial straights.

If you had bike or home insurance you might also be covered (depending on the break in – was a door left unlocked etc).

Their insurance would probably pay you for the value of your bike, and no doubt subtract an amount for the age, condition and lack of any receipt demonstrating it was what you say it was…
