Any BMC TEAM machine owners here?

I read a review of the SLR02 and it sounded exactly like the bike I want, but…it is £500 or so more than my budget.

The SLR03 sounds a similar ride and it is in the right price bracket, so are there any owners of either version that can tell me about their bike? The SLR 03 comes with a compact and 11-32 cassette which would do my head in but I may be able to get that changed at the point of sale.

    Thanks in advance!

Edited – I put Timemachine in the title, the aero bike. I’m thinking of the Teamachine, a more “normal” bike. Doh! #o

I have one of the pre-face lift models, after a looooonng time riding bikes I can honestly say it’s the best bike around. The new geometry doesn’t fit me as well as the new, Im a bit gutted. Ive had just about every bling brand: cervelo, specialised, colnago, de rosa, litespeed, ridley, argon 18, cannondale, look, giant so I do have something to compare it with. may not be the lightest frame, but is plenty stiff when going down the side of a mountain at 100kmh.
the team I ride for is sponsored by bmc(I got my bike before the sponsorship deal), and there is a mix of (mostly) 105 and ultegra there is a little difference in weight (and you have to swap brake blocks from the 105)

as Mrmilk pointed out they arent the best value for money, but they do have a crash replacement programme.

No problem. I personally don’t think they are the best ‘value’ bike out there, unless you get one on sale.

The brother is actually considering looking for something a little more aero actually, still loves the BMC. Says its a bike you can wind up on the flats and just keep pushing it forward.

If cost is a concern, have you had a look at a Cannondale SuperSix? Amazing bargains on an amazing bike right now.

Great review, thank you. I wouldn’t be pimping it at any stage, so interesting to see those comments. It is sufficiently over my budget (but not totally out of man-maths logic) that I would want it to be 100% out of the box.

My brother has the SLR02 – he got it last year before he put the prices up (no change to the frame, so I believe they are poorer value).

Now he has pimped it with Force 22 and decent wheels – the stock kit didnt do the bike justice.

Very nice looking bike despite a boring paint job. Super stiff bike for the flats, but feels abit dull handling and in it’s climbing ability. However, really comfy too. Would make a nice fast sportive bike or a race bike for rolling terrain – there are other bikes I’d rather ride in the alps however.
