    This is about Coffee, in particular a quality Doppio espresso. I travel a lot, so, in your opinions where are your coffee hot spots, they don’t have to cycling cafes persa, however bike porn always helps with the enjoyment. This time though, it’s about the coffee.

    Mine are:

    Coolriver cafe: Matlock Derbyshire
    Strutts cafe: Belper Derbyshire
    DerbyparkBikeWorks: Derby city centre (park your bike for free why you have a coffee)
    200 Degrees: Nottingham City centre

    The Espresso at these places is as good as anywhere I have ever been. (In the world)

    I am fed up of being disappointed when I visit other places, so let’s create a list.

    What passes as ‘good coffee’
    What passes as ‘good coffee’ is subjective, I like mine strong and bitter without milk or sugar.

    A local favourite is Deli Cofano, a concession operating within Woodside Garden Centre at Poynton (Cheshire). Lovely cakes and home made soup too.

    It’s small but there are tables outside and a fence to secure the bike to. I’ve never seen other cyclists there.

    Artisan Roast- branches in Edinburgh and Glasgow, fantastic coffee, near some bike shops!

    Laboratorio Espresso in the centre of Glasgow- also fantastic, bike shops near by.

    And finally- the Apple Pie Bakery in Carnwath- not very good coffee but cheap and welcoming with lots of roadies!

    Oh yes lots of character there and a really good gran fondo / sportive organised by Zappi each summer. the 2014 had some young pros in too from his team – I attempted to keep up for a bit! :))

    Bit far from you, but Zappis bike cafe in Oxford does a thoughly decent espresso whilst having some cool bike-stuff on the walls. Shame it’s always packed with the macbook pro brigade.

    Up north the Priory Hall and the Music Room in Lancaster are great

    My coffee/tea ratio is probably generally about 9/1 but there are times when only a good cup of tea will do. Things like the end of a good day out in the hills for example- I rarely have coffee at Pete’s Eats for example!

    Coffee’s great first thing, but on a long, tough, cold ride, its a cup of tea over any other drink, even the energy ones, which keeps me going.

    If you’re ever around tarragona/salou in spain, don’t try the local coffee joints, as they all seem to by the same coffee brand, that I’m sure is made from reconstituted rat droppings! In fact it’s so bad that Macdonald’s coffee actually tastes good(cambrils beach front)

    now if only the spanish could make a decent pot of tea
