Garmin Edge 510 issue

    Hi!

    Today my 510 was working fine then halfway through my ride the total ascent on my display reverted to _____ft and stayed that way until the end of the ride.
    I started a new ride after and it started working normally again.

    When I uploaded to connect & strava the total ascent readings were present and looked correct, If I look on the unit at the last ride though, it still reads total ascent/descent as 0ft ?

    Obviously I’m pleased the data was uploaded but I am not too happy about not seeing the data as I’m riding or not knowing if it is recording it at all, it doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence.

    Has anybody else experienced this problem?

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

    Did you cycle a course or planned route? If so may be when you planned your route there was no underlying elevation data available for part of your route. Either that or you used Garmin Connect to plan your route and this often fails to download the elevation data even though Garmin Connect shows that it exists in the elevation profile. I have had this happen many times, although only for the entire route not jus part of it.

    Anyway it’s a Garmin device so you should expect a few bugs and unpredictable behaviour.

    Over the summer mine seemed
    Over the summer mine seemed to get conflicted between GPS speed and the speed sensor, so displayed nothing. The trace was fine, like yours. I took the speed sensor off and haven’t had a problem since. That doesn’t help you, except to say others have glitches, too.
