Seatpost ‘set back’

    Hi, looking at a new seat post but all the ones I fancy are 25mm set back compared to my existing posts 20mm set back. I was retul fitted for the bike so don’t want to play about too much with the set up. If I go for the 25mm set back post is it just a case of moving the seat 5mm forward, or is there more to it than that :/

    Before you change your seat
    Before you change your seat post, grab a tape measure and measure saddle nose tip to the centre slot of the handlebar stem clamp. Measure crank axle centre to top of saddle body. Write this down. Also take a photo showing angle.

    When fitting your new post, replicate your measurement. If the saddle rails are too short, sell the new post and refit your old post.

    Measure the seat position accurately from various points to give height, tilt and forward position to handlebars.

    Replace seat stem and use measurements to fit seat
