Shimano 9/10 speed compatability

Am I right in thinking that a 10 speed Shimano Ultegra rear mech is compatable with 9 speed sti shifter. That is to say does the 10 speed index ok with the 9 speed shifter?

Yes you are correct. 8/9/10
Yes you are correct. 8/9/10 speed rear mechs and shifters are compatible, 11 speed is its own thing.
