If you can stretch a further
If you can stretch a further fifty quid the B’Twin Alur 700 has a Shimano 105 groupset and Tiagra cassette. They can be difficult to source at the minute though.

Use one of these frames with my old Athena Gruppo and Fulcrum Racing 3’s on as a winter bike, doesn’t put a foot wrong as winter bikes/commuters go.

Have a look at the Merida ride alloy at £600, it’s got a full carbon fork and triple butted frame.

    Bike sales are just around
Bike sales are just around the corner (if they haven’t already started). You should be able to find some good deals. Personally, I’d go for the Giant or Cannondale…great bikes. Good luck!

The best way to find one is
The best way to find one is to test ride a few and find out which one you like the feel of the best as the bikes are all specced similarly at this price point.

Ps, I’m selling my allez sport if your interested: http://road.cc/content/classified/126334-specialized-allez-sport
