Commonwealth Games – what the deal with sticky tape over logos on helmets ?

    Watching the Commonwealth Games ITT yesterday, notice that some riders are displaying logos on their helmets, while others have them taped out. For example Geraint Thomas and Luke Durbridge both had logos taped over but Alex Dowsett had a Movistar helmet and there were plenty other branded ones about … is it to do with conflict between a national team’s sponsor / kit supplier and an individual riders team or personal deal ?

    I would guess it might be team sponsors that aren’t also sponsoring the games. Movistar would be ok, because O2 are sponsors I believe.

    But just on that note, watching the 10,000m the Isle of Man runner had the three leg logo taped over on his back….
