Genuinely shocking drivel from someone who should know better:

Can’t believe they would put this kind a garbage on their site

I suspect the removal of the article has less to do with “aggression and abuse”in the comments section and more to do with the fact that it made them look like idiots. Even long-time Motor Sport readers thought it was utter drivel.dannycarr2k

The comments following the
The comments following the explanation for the article being pulled are interesting. Most are good and point out that racing drivers are often keen cyclists and also that road positioning for cyclists is a matter of safety. But there are some ignorant trolls there as well. The original article was already gone by the time I tried the link so I can’t comment on it.downfader

The comments which I read on the website prior to the article’s removal were certainly less aggressive and abusive than I’ve seen here – must be sensitive souls or the last few postings (unseen by me) went full retard.
Hmm I read some of the last comments on that. Relogged in to the page about 20 mins later and the article was gone. I dont remember anyone declaring themselves as a rider and being threatening – most were saying how let down they felt by the publication and the author…

His name is Andrew Frankel, I used to quite enjoy reading his car stuff, but not now. Bet he has a twitter feed, going to let him know what I think…

I reckon the negative PR.
I reckon the negative PR. They originally pulled the pic that misrepresented why a cyclist was in the middle of the road. Though judging by the comments the journo was taking a savaging for his masterpiece.notfastenough

Continuing with the top gear theme…Best case scenario – Matey-jim wrote the article just to make a name for himself with a kind of “jeremy clarkson says offensive stuff and look how rich he is” mindset and he doesn’t actually believe what he’s written. Also, contrary to what he would have you believe, matey-jim is actually a very safe driver.
Worst case scenario – he was writing from the heart. In this case I would say he must be missing some DNA that most of us take for granted.
Fingers crossed everyone!
