Replacement Cones

Apologies if this is a well worn post - but I'm a tad confused around how to source replacement hub cones (shimano to be precise). Having had a trawl through the usual list of online retailers the only/main option seems to be to buy an entire replacement hub, which seems both expensive and superfluous. Can anyone suggest where I might be able to to get the replacement cones? Just getting to grips with my Ridgeback Mercury having ridden and maintained a 1976 Carlton Continental for last 20 years and for fear of sounding like my dad it all seems to have got a bit more complicated and throw away.

They do complete axles ….

My guess though is that because it’s one of their cheaper hubs that either spares won’t be available or on the positive side they might be fine with some fairly generic cones.

Might be worth trying the lbs to see if they have any random parts in a spares box somewhere.

Any of this stuff any good?

Shimano aren’t great on spares, but cones are something they do.
