Am looking for something cheap and cheerful, possibly homemade if anyone has any experience? Want to clamp bike to a cheapish workstand (Jaws only really) which can attach to fence/ wall permanently – so can hold bike whilst hosing down and doing after bike maintenance for a few minutes. I have a good workstand in garage but don’t want to be endlessly taking in and out if there is a better solution for a few quid? Here’s hoping!?

    Two long shelving brackets,
Two long shelving brackets, wrapped in a bit of foam or whatever. One under the stem, one under the saddle. Wrap some Velcro straps around to hold in place.

Ghetto, but it’ll work if you’re on a budget.

There’s an interesting how-to video for making a stand that you can attach to a wall using plumber’s metal pipe, a flange, and vise clamps from the hardware store for ~£15 that you might find useful since you wanted a DIY option.

Yep, i use a wall mounted storage rack bolted in to the fence post next to the shed. Perfect for maintenance and washing. I have a couple of small bar towels that i swiped from the local pub to wrap around the top tube for protection.

It also comes in handy for hanging cycling helmets on to dry after a sweaty summer ride, and shoe covers/ jackets after wet winter rides.

    £10 from Halfords, bargain.

I have one of these bolted to the washing line, with additional old bar tape on the u-shaped bits to protect the frame from being damaged. A couple of bolts to install and it’s perfect for bike washing and the odd bit of maintenance.

    You can get wall mount
You can get wall mount workstand heads for £20-30 from almost any of the major online players, plus amazon and ebay.

The cheapest option would be a wall mount storage rack… Something simple with two arms that hold the bike can be had for little over a tenner. Ribble do a folding one for 11.99
