    Hello everyone,

Today I had the pleasure of coming off my bike – I’m okay some minor scuffs bruises and a hurt pride. My bike sadly came off a little worse, her left hand tiagra shifter took the brunt of the fall and is pretty badly bust up (its bent and doesn’t shift).

So lovely Road.cc members, does any one have a spare left hand double tiagra shifter that they would either –
    A) give to a poor student in need who would pay for postage
    or
    B) sell to a poor student in need who would pay a reasonable sum for said shifter

Thanks guys, I’m off to tcp my wounds some more.

    It’s only a left shifter,
It’s only a left shifter, just do it all in the big ring from now on 🙂

Does the brake still work? If so, just to get back on the road, you could try a downtube shifter, a la Lance Armstrong. Your LBS probably has some in a greasy cardboard box somewhere.

You could try posting a Wanted ad over at Bikeradar:

Otherwise keep checking the usual websites – CRC, Merlin, Ribble etc in case the single STI pops up in a sale. If you give up beer for a week that should save you a good chunk of the cost 😉

I tried but we parted ways!
I tried but we parted ways! The bike damage really is salt in the wound! Nothing else was damaged, just a scuffed pedal and rear skewer – nothing that can’t be lived with! I’ll continue my ebay search in the mean time…

Aah you see the trick to crashing your bike is to sacrifice yourself! Skin grows back, unfortunately bikes don’t! Plus somehow it takes a little of the pain away when you inspect the bike to find that it’s all ok!
