Quick question: when entering rider weight on Garmin Edge units, is it a pants and socks weight or fully clothed, rucksack, etc. weight? There’s quite a difference between the two…

Or would I be better off adding the fully laden weight to the weight of the bike? Garmin’s site is not forthcoming with an answer.

Put your weight as your actual weight, and the bike weight as bike + accessories + half your fluid (assuming you drink it all over a ride and therefore the average weight you’re carrying will be half the full weight).
Then realise that the calorie burn is wildly inaccurate without a power meter and say “sod it, I’m eating some more cake because I’ve earned it”.

I just put in MY weight. Not how much of a sandwich, gel in my pocket or anything else I may carry
