    As I predicted in another post, they would break their ONE major rule this year.

    That being

    News coming from the cycling grapevine is that they have signed Two Germans (Andre Schulze and Steffen Radochla), Two Slovenian’s (Robert Vrecer and Jure Kocjan) along with A Russian (Alexander Sarebryakov) and A Polish rider (Marek Rutkiewicz)

    Agree, its the big tours that will be top heavy in basques. Mind you if the new boys get a bit of success then their popularity will suddenly soar with the locals, they might even reach the heady heights of “adopted” 😉

    As long as the team they put out for the Tour, Vuelta and other races visiting the Pyrenees and Spain is primarily made up of Spaniards and Basque riders they should be ok, I don’t think the Basque fans would be overly bothered about them putting out a team of randoms for tours of Qatar, down under, Bahrain etc.

    It seems its come time that they needed to get UCI points rather than Basque riders

    Team manager Igor González de Galdeano said: “We want to be able to participate by right in the Tour de France and in the best races. That can only be achieved by being part of the WorldTour, which has its points’ system.

    “It’s no longer a case of deserving to be in the WorldTour – that’s not enough. You have to fulfil the requirements. There’s no point wasting time by criticising the situation, the team, its decisions and the bodies that oversee this sport.”

    So instead of just getting in a few, they have just got half a team of non Basque’s. Don’t know how its going down in Spain though
