Afternoon all! They’re 30km in, 2 of my guys already tried to get away but its back together at the mo I think.
I just swapped Seeldraeyers for Henao – couldn’t cope if I dropped anyone else and they got in a break…

I know where I went wrong,
I know where I went wrong, the wrong DS picks at the start plus the cost of the extra transfers to fix it is what’s cost me really. If I’d started with Talansky, Meersman, Quintana, Bouhanni and Marczynski I’d be fighting for top spot but I picked De Weert and Da Fluente instead of Meersman and Talansky which cost me maybe 120 points early on plus 40 in penalty transfers. What’s most annoying is that I made the right picks on my purist team which is why I’m doing well.
One of the hardest things about this game is trying to change DSs when the terrain keeps changing, in the first week where I kept having to swap out climbing and sprinting stars there was no way for me to change DSs without being hit with the penalty.
Also, I probably stuck with Froome over Valverde for one or two stages too many.

The only reason I said it was
The only reason I said it was a poor day. After 2 and a bit weeks. My purist team which I picked before the race is outscoring my transfer team which I am changing out every day 👿I still have a list of 3 teams. My purist team, The team I started transfers with and the “if I had another account” team. At the end of the Vuelta, I’ll be working out where I went wrong :B

I’m going to call this a POOR day for me.I scored 153 with only one rider not scoring. Which on any other day would be alright.
Then I looked at my purist team. 156 with only 4 riders scoring 👿

There is nothing to win for a
There is nothing to win for a stage victory in the Vuelta. So a draw is a draw 👿widgetkicker
And you’re right gkam, now
And you’re right gkam, now that I look at it I see that my memory of the Giro was skewed a little. But it led to me picking De Gendt today, so I’m not complaining.widgetkicker
That’s interesting simon, but
That’s interesting simon, but these are the tiebreakers I was thinking of:In the event of a tie, the following criteria, where applicable, will be used to determine the winner:
Highest single stage score posted within a competition
Most scoring riders on a stage
Highest scoring individual on a stage
Fewest transfers used within a competition

He didn’t “Break away” as a
He didn’t “Break away” as a classic break would. He attacked with around 35-40km to go. Pulling back around 3.20 minutes on then leader J-Rod and 3.30 on eventual winner Hesjedal. The final stage, stage 21 was and ITT where De Gendt only beat Hesjedal by 8 seconds but Scarponi lost a shed load which boosted him into 3rd. 😉

For anyone who’s interested
For anyone who’s interested (from the official regs) :-1. OVERALL TIME CLASSIFICATION.
This is obtained from the sum of the times recorded by each
rider for each stage, applying the corresponding bonuses and
penalties, with the best placed rider being the one with the
lowest total time.
In the case of a tie between two or more riders, the
hundredths of a second in the individual time trial stages
shall be applied, with the winner being the rider with the
lowest total hundredths of a second. If the result is still tied
or if there are no individual time trial stages the placing
obtained in each stage shall be added and, as a last resort,
the place obtained in the last stage ridden shall be taken
into consideration.2. OVERALL POINTS CLASSIFICATION.
This is obtained from the sum of the points earned by each
rider in each stage and in all of the intermediate sprints
(except the first stage. – TTT). If there is a tie in the total
number of points, each of the riders in the tie shall be
awarded the points corresponding to the starting position.
Stage Points:

2º 20 points 10º 6 points

The top classification shall go to the rider with the best

penalties established in the UCI Regulations. Pursuant to
article 2.6.017 of the said Regulations, In the event of a tie
in the Overall Points Standing, the following criteria shall be
applied in order until the riders are separated:
• Number of stage wins.
• Number of wins in intermediate sprints counting for the
Overall Points Standing.
• Overall Standing on Time.
3. Overall climber classification.
This is obtained from the sum of the points earned by each
rider on the applicable climbs. The rider with the most points

first places in the high-climb finished will be applied, and,
if necessary, the number of first places on climbs in the next
inferior category and so on.
If the tie still persists, the Overall Standing on Time will
apply.widgetkicker
De Gendt went into stage 20
De Gendt went into stage 20 of the Giro in 8th almost six minutes down and made up five minutes and five places in the last two stages. He probably wouldn’t have been allowed the opportunity to break away on that Stelvio stage if he had been placed any higher at the start.TERatcliffe26
