Shimano WH-6700 Ultegra Wheels – tyre issues!

Hi, I’ve posted this before but wonder if anyone has any experience of these wheels. Or, mor specifically, the tyres to use which won’t break fingers and tyre levers just to get on and off. I am using some Conti folding 23c Gatorskins, which I have never had a problem getting on and off other wheels. The wheels are tubeless friendly but at £60 a pop those tyres are too pricey really. Any tips? A puncture while out can mean almost 30 minutes of literally finger-breaking effort to replace the tube. Cheers.

Thanks for that – in fact
Thanks for that – in fact following the previous posts I bought some Ultremos, but when I removed my Gatorskins I found they have really loosened off. It may well be that I did the job when we had that brief warm spell in March, but they definitly seem to have lost the suprt-tightness from when they were new. Still, a couple of good tyre levers may still save my fingers on a wet day so thanks very much.

bit late getting on here but
bit late getting on here but only just noticed this topic! I have these wheels and have had major trouble getting tyres on – even thought i’d bought the wrong size at one point! I’ve had conti attack/force on them, and now i have schwalbe ultremo r1’s on. There’s only one thing you need – one of these – http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b65s72p1263 – they’re brilliant and you can lever even the tightest tyre on with one.

i have the same wheels and found schwalbe ultremos ok to get on. still need at least one tire lever though. sadly the issue is the tubeless compatibility = tight fitting tyres

    Contis are notoriously tight,
Contis are notoriously tight, so using them in combination with a tubeless-friendly is always going to be a challenge. I’d suggest looking at a tyre like the Schwalbe Durango – generally a *bit* slacker on the rim.
