Best road tyre for comfort?

    My Alu road bike is great but extremely stiff and unforgiving. I really don’t want to get rid of it but the harsh ride is becoming a pain.

    What’s the best tyre in a 25c that I could use to increase the comfort – preferably without entirely sacrificing speed?

    +1 for Michelin Krylions,
    +1 for Michelin Krylions, also during the winter months I’m riding on 25c conti gatorskins.

    I have a pair of Continental
    I have a pair of Continental Grand Prix 4 Season in 700×28, which actually measure 25 mm. Great winter tyre. Continental tyres seem to be a size smaller than stated. A pair of Ultra Gatorskin 700×25 I have measure 23 mm.

    I also have a pair of Michelin Krylion Carbon 700×25, and they are actually 25 mm.

    I haven’t had the Michelin Krylions on very long. The previous pair lasted well, but were a different design.

    The Continental 4 Seasons are going very well.

    I’ve tried those Contis too
    I’ve tried those Contis too and like them very much. Right now though I’m using Michelin Krylion Carbon 25Cs and I reckon they have the edge. They’re certainly tougher – I’ve not had a single puncture yet and they’ve been on the bike all year. Very comfy too. Highly recommended.

    I found them fairly easy to fit — much much easier than a pair of Bontrager Racelite ACs which were my previous pair of tyres.

    4000s 25s were quicker than the 23c Bonts above, which is a massive bonus. And more comfortable. Winner 🙂

    Cheers Low-fi. Its for my best bike so I don’t mind splashing the cash a little as it still works out cheaper than a new frame.
    May well give the gp4000’s a go though I’ve always found Conti’s really tight to fit.

    I’m extremely impressed with
    I’m extremely impressed with the Continental Grand Prix 4000s tyre. Not cheap, not the most hard wearing, but feel great, have oodles of grip (even in the wet), and are very comfortable. I’ve got the 25c model.
