Shimano Alfine ratio questions

How do the ratio's in an Alfine hub with the Alfine 39T chainwheel compare to a standard road setup ? I'd expect the highest gear to be lower than a road bike, but is the lowest gear as low as a standard chainset ? Any ideas ? Thanks
