The Better Bike Lever is actually a pair; they join to provide extra strength or leverage, though even singly they work well. The 3D-printed design has barely changed, but a material upgrade means they’re now significantly stiffer.

These take considerable pressure before bending – there’s no brittleness or fragility – and, as with regular plastic, the limit is easy to judge.

Testing these against the originals shows the new plastic (apparently carbon reinforced, but BBL gives no real information) is a definite upgrade. Slotted into a vice and given a 5kg pull, the originals deflected 2cm while the new ones flexed only 1.2cm.
With wide, thin ends that are easy to dig under beads and a useful 11cm of leverage, they make light work of stubborn tubeless tyres.

For the tightest of rubber you can combine the two for increased strength, though I needed reminding of the steps in the scissoring action – the card packaging is worth keeping. For me this borders on gimmicky, though never quite tips into it because it could, in extreme cases, make the difference.
Linking a T-section to a hole creates a reseating tool. It’s another ‘read the manual’ orientation; I’d like alignment markings on the levers. These are clearly tuned for road tyres, however, and are awkward with gravel stuff despite being a ‘road/gravel’ option.

If you like big boots (and you cannot lie) you’re better off with the 140mm ‘MTB’ version (£11.50). If you want custom text you can have that too (£5 extra), and as it’s easy to spend £5-£10 on regular plastic levers, £8.50 for this base model seems reasonable.
Overall
These retain a couple of neat tricks and are stiffer and stronger: for 2025 the Better Bike Lever is a better tyre lever than the Better Bike Lever.

Verdict
Usefully stiff and strong levers with a couple of interesting party tricks

These are well shaped and stiff, but still with enough flex that only the most hamfisted will snap them. The extra features border on gimmicky, but they work, so fair enough.
