    Have you ever been “Dismounted” from your bike?

    A Report from BBC West Yorkshire

    Two cyclists were seriously injured and several others hurt when they crashed as a car overtook them on the outskirts of Wetherby, police said.

    The group of riders were entering the town near the 30mph signs on Harrogate Road just after 13:00 BST on Sunday 10 August when a black hatchback overtook them.

    West Yorkshire Police said: “Whilst overtaking it reacted to an oncoming vehicle which was leaving Wetherby. It moved towards the cyclists causing several of them to be dismounted before narrowly missing the oncoming car.”

    This “accident” is still

    This “accident” is still under investigation and the BBCand the Police do not want to aportion blame. They are bending over backwards to avoid saying – 

    “An overtaking car swerved into a group of cyclists to avoid a head on collision”

    As a mate said – a bit like when NASA described an exploding rocket as “Spontaneously Deconstructing”

    That’s valid, but reading

    That’s valid, but reading this again, it sounds like the two cyclists were riding together, probably abreast. The overtaking car cut in when an oncoming car appeared, causing the cyclists to collide with each other (or become dismounted, as the odd police wording claims).

    I’m actually quite wary when

    I’m actually quite wary when I see other cyclists coming towards me with a car following – there’s a high likelihood (as drivers process one bit of road information every 2-3 seconds) that they will MGIF their way into me.
