Just seen this on the BBC News site, an op-ed by Chef Aldo Zill’s MiL about unregulated bikes after she was hit on a crossing by a Lime Bike, presented as an op-ed to allow the BBC to claim they had no responsibility for what was said but I was unable to find the required counter op-ed to ensure no bias.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c70nl7np0v9o

    (This story was chewed over

(This story was chewed over in the live blog comments of the day IIRC)

However – marginally on the topic … Shock horror! – the Government has “heard reports” that some of the food delivery firms might be employing migrants / asylum seekers not entitled to work here (or not yet)!  Heavens to betsy!

A minister is going to have a meeting with the delivery firms, who have immediately pointed to their “strict rules and checks”.  After all they don’t even have any riders who are employees; no doubt their terms and conditions are very clear…

I can only imagine the meeting.  Will everyone be like wrestlers desperately trying not to break kayfabe?  Will they share winks and nods of understanding, with the minister saying “listen, we know you’ve won the previous rounds e.g. on the ’employee’ bit, but … can we all just make this issue go quiet”?
